Our Team

Tom Sukay, a Principal of Sukay & Associates, founded the firm in 2003 after nearly 30 years as a senior financial officer. Tom started his career in public accounting with KPMG. Beginning in 1978, Tom moved in-house and, over the next 25 years, had increasingly senior financial roles in private and public financial services companies, ranging in size from $100 million to $10 billion in assets.

During that period, Tom's efforts were primarily focused on raising capital from the public markets and the identification and pursuit of strategic merger and acquisition targets. He conducted all facets of financial and operational reviews that included full bank acquisitions and, most recently, the acquisition of insurance agencies. Tom was responsible for leading the financial analysis, negotiations, legal due diligence, accounting review and the ultimate integration into the acquired company. Tom also negotiated the sale of several companies.

In his most recent banking position, Tom served as the Chief Financial Officer of Commerce Bancorp Inc. During his tenure, Commerce acquired the agencies that formed Commerce Insurance Services, Inc., which has now become one of the largest and most successful bank-owned insurance brokerage operations.

Tom later joined Rosenbluth International Inc., a privately-held corporate travel firm, as Chief Financial Officer and spent three years working on financial improvements which led to the sale of the company. Acting on behalf of Rosenbluth, Tom worked with leading investment bankers to negotiate the sale of Rosenbluth to American Express in September 2003.

John Biasiello, President of Biasiello & Associates, has more than 20 years of professional experience in the insurance industry. Sukay & Associates contracts with Biasiello & Associates on selected client engagements.

Beginning in 1985, John held several senior positions with the leading insurance broker Alexander and Alexander, Inc. In his role as Vice President of Finance and Administration, John was responsible for the entire regional accounting function of this international firm.

In 1997, John joined Commerce Insurance Services, Inc., a division of Commerce Bancorp Inc., as its Vice President of Finance, which is when he and Tom Sukay became professional colleagues. During the next eight years, Commerce acquired 14 insurance agencies across the nation, which resulted in Commerce Insurance being ranked the 24th largest and the most successful bank-owned insurance brokerage operation. John led the integration of the acquired agencies and the internal operations of each agency. He also became the Chief Administrative Officer and was responsible for all financial and operational aspects of any potential acquisition candidate. During his tenure, John oversaw the financial analysis of over 200 transactions that included insurance agencies, insurance software vendors, insurance companies and other related transactions.

In addition, his internal responsibilities at Commerce Insurance required John to coordinate activities with parent company peers in various functional areas including: marketing and advertising; facilities management; purchasing; computer integration; compliance issues related to the Patriot Act; and all privacy and security issues banks and insurance agencies face. John was also the primary insurance agency contact with the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware Departments of Insurance.

John earned his Masters of Science Degree in Human Resources Management from Holy Family University, where he is currently an adjunct professor in the business department. John is also an accredited instructor in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware in insurance training and Continuing Education accredited courses through the Academy of Insurance.

Andy Korab, CPCU joined Sukay & Associates in June 2008 as Managing Director. Prior to joining Sukay & Associates, Andy Korab was Vice President and Chief Acquisition Officer for Commerce Insurance Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Commerce Bancorp. In that capacity, Andy directed the search for and development of strategic geographic and industry focused acquisitions for Commerce Insurance Services.

Andy is a graduate of Seton Hall University and started his career with the Chubb Group. Over the years, Andy has worked in a number of positions of increasing responsibility with Chubb, Home Insurance Company and Crum & Forester. In 1991, Andy was awarded the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.

Over the years, Andy has developed a great number of relationships with both P&C and Employee Benefit agents and brokers through out the Mid Atlantic region, New England and Florida. Andy understands the dynamics that most agency's face in maintaining business growth, producer development and mentoring, the inevitability of perpetuation planning and the constant change and subsequent pressures that are faced by independent agencies as a result of insurance carrier consolidations.

As part of the Sukay & Associates team Andy will focus on the firm's marketing efforts and new client development while assisting the remainder of the team during the transaction process with existing clients.

What Clients Say

"I could not have asked for a better advisor in this transaction. Sukay & Associates treated our transaction as if it was their own and worked tirelessly to ensure that our professional and personal goals were achieved." Bob Walsh, President - Hess Egan Hagerty & L'Hommedieu

"I have known the principals for several years as we previously worked together to assess the internal operations of Alpha. We developed a close working relationship at that time and they worked exceptionally hard to structure a transaction that met my goals. Sukay & Associates treated our transaction as if it was their own and worked tirelessly to ensure our professional and personal goals were achieved." Robert D. Heller - President, Alpha Benefits Group

"Trust, integrity and effort are traits that we expect from the employees of our agency. We engaged Sukay & Associates to pursue the sale of our company because we knew that they would conduct themselves in a similar manner. Premium, personalized service does not begin to describe their dedication in achieving our goals. It was refreshing that something so important to us was not being delegated to junior staff members. Tom and his staff's extensive background in the industry were readily apparent as they engaged themselves with our company and the sales process. They continue to stay involved in assisting us to interpret the legal contracts and aiding us to achieve our goals." Randy Butz - Morrell, Butz & Junker, Inc.
